Whatever it is that binds families and married couples together, that’s not love. That’s stupidity or selfishness or fear. Self interest exists, attachment based on personal gain exists, complaisancy exists. But not love. Love has to be reinvented

Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love.
Albert Einstein

My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me that I must love a loathed enemy.
Juliet (Claire Danes) in Romeo + Juliet

Love has to be reinvented.
Arthur Rimbaud (Leonardo DiCaprio) in Total Eclipse (1995)

Allie: Why didn’t you write me? Why? It wasn’t over for me, I waited for you for seven years. But now it’s too late.
Noah: I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year.
Allie: You wrote me?
Noah: Yes… it wasn’t over, it still isn’t over.
Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) in The Notebook

Film of the Day: The Notebook

Today I chose a very romantic movie which is actually one of my favourites. The Notebook is about love. True love, pure love and love that overcomes all obstacles. I think it is totally enough to say about it. The story is very thouching so I really suggest to prepare loads of tissues. :-)

This was the first Ryan Gosling film in my life. I really like this guy he is a very talented actor. He is the sort of weird guy who is quite cool but you can always see something insane in his eyes. :-)

So The Notebook is a highly recommended movie especially if you are in a kind of romantic mood.

Forever turned out to be too long.
Susannah (Julia Ormond) in Legends of the Fall

- Hello, David. I mean “sir”. Shit, I can’t believe I’ve just said that. And now I’ve gone and said “shit” - twice. I’m so sorry, sir.
- It’s fine, it’s fine. You could’ve said “fuck,” and then we’d have been in real trouble.
- Thank you, sir. I did have an awful premonition that I was gonna fuck up on the first day. Oh, piss it!
Natalie (Martine McCutcheon) and Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) in Love Actually

If this isn’t love, I don’t think I can handle the real thing.
Finn (Ethan Hawke) in Great Expectations (1998)

Film of the Day: Four Weddings and a Funeral

What can I say? Hugh Grant in a typical English comedy.

A heart-warming piece on a cold December evening. :-)
